Careers Education
At our school, we are committed to providing every student with a high-quality careers education programme that raises aspirations, broadens horizons and prepares them for successful futures. We believe that all young people, regardless of their background, ability or starting point, should leave school with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make informed decisions about their next steps.
Our careers programme is designed in line with the Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance, the Department for Education's Careers Strategy and the Career Development Institute (CDI) Careers Development Framework. These nationally recognised frameworks ensure that our students receive a progressive, meaningful and inclusive careers education throughout their time at school.
Through a planned programme of Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG), students are supported to:

Understand themselves, their strengths, interests and values.

Recognise the skills they are developing both in and beyond the classroom.

Explore a wide range of career sectors and labour market opportunities.

Understand the routes available to them, including sixth form, further education, apprenticeships, vocational qualifications, higher education and employment.

Develop the employability skills that employers value, including communication, teamwork, resilience, leadership, problem-solving and professionalism.

Make informed decisions at key transition points throughout their education.
Our careers programme is embedded across the curriculum and complemented by dedicated careers learning, employer encounters, workplace experiences, encounters with further and higher education providers, personal guidance interviews and enrichment opportunities. We work closely with employers, colleges, apprenticeship providers and local organisations to ensure that students gain meaningful experiences of the workplace and develop an understanding of local and national labour market opportunities.
We recognise that careers education is about much more than choosing a job. It is about helping young people develop the confidence, adaptability and career management skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. By linking learning to future opportunities, we help students understand the relevance of their education and empower them to aim high and achieve their potential.

We continually review and develop our careers programme through student, parent, employer and staff feedback, destination data and regular evaluation against the Gatsby Benchmarks.
