Taking the next step towards adulthood can be a daunting prospect, and one of our prime objectives is to prepare students to successfully cope with the transition into their post 16 life. Every student is an individual, so we try to offer them transition support that is tailored to their needs so that they feel more confident and ready for the next stage in their life.

Careers South West

We work closely with students and a range of providers and organisations to secure appropriate work experience in Year 10 and Year 11. We engage Careers South West to help source work experience placements. Careers South West undertake a comprehensive check of all our work experience providers. We have shared values with Careers South West as we and they are committed to providing a workplace education service that supports young people to prepare for life after education. We see work experience as an opportunity to build self-esteem, support ambition and enrich our student’s educational provision. Local businesses have provided work experience for our students, from the hotel industry to high-end cable manufacture.

Wiltshire College

We have developed strong links with Wiltshire College. Many of our students prefer learning through practical tasks and some attend the college for one day a week. The Pre-16 College Link courses that are offered by Wiltshire College in Salisbury provide the ideal opportunity for students interested in Vehicle Maintenance, Construction and Hair and Beauty to trial the courses for one day (or more) a week in Year 10 and 11. This also is ideal preparation for going to college on a full-time course post-16.

Salisbury Education Business Partnership

We strong have links with Salisbury Education Business Partnership who provide support and guidance regarding apprenticeships and career opportunities in the local area.

College is not for everyone. Some students find apprenticeships to be a more suitable route into employment. The government website can help find a suitable placement locally.
