Work Experience

Work experience can be a very powerful, life changing experience for learners. Some go on to gain employment and some realise their ideal career path and progress to being very successful in their chosen field. Others decide that what they thought was their ideal career path no longer lives up to their expectations and are grateful they had the chance to find out before leaving school. The current job market is tough, so having that extra piece of experience on their CV will help students after year 11 when applying for jobs.

At Brunel College we encourage all students to at least try a one placement to gain some experience in the working world.

Our Year 11 students have the opportunity to complete work placements of their choice on one day a week contracts. We use the CSW (Careers South West) database which allows students to find out what is available to them in the local area and provides descriptions of what employers will expect of them.

Some of the employers include; Pets Practices, Autoworks Garage, Salisbury Football Club, Sweeney Hair, Holeshot Motorcross and Abbey Mews Home.

Year 10 students have the opportunity to complete a week block of work experience on 19th-23rd November.
